At the origin of the novel concept of the Hôtels Littéraires is the collector and bibliophile Jacques Letertre. By dedicating each of his hotels to his favorite writers, this book lover wants to share his passion with all visitors.
The adventure began in 2013 with the inauguration of the Hôtel Littéraire Le Swann dedicated to Marcel Proust in the 8th arrondissement of Paris. Among the Proustian pieces loaned to the Villa du Temps Recovered is a superb opera mantelet signed by the great couturier Jacques Doucet.
A sixth Literary Hotel entirely dedicated to Jules Verne has just opened in Biarritz on the Basque coast.
